The patterns that emerged in my tapestry are that, depression is very serious and IS an illness, it's not something that you can fake, and also that you don't know what being depressed is like until you experience it yourself. I can't imagine what it would be like to live in a world where no one is depressed, so it's hard for me to reflect on. I could say something like "people would be happier" but to me that doesn't make sense, I know that there's an obvious, clear, direct meaning to saying that, but in a way, it still doesn't make sense to me. There is a lot of things in the world to be depressed over, the way things work, and how some people act and treat others, it's not exactly a happy place to live in, so I understand how people aren't always happy. Depression is an illness, it's caused by levels of certain chemicals in your brain, not just by sad things around us, it's not something that we can control, and it's not easy to go through. Having depression is a huge struggle and an on going battle. Especially when you're trying to decide whether you should keep going, and just hope for the best, just hope one day it gets better, or end it all. There is times when it can seem like there is no hope, and it's pointless to go on, and it is a very serious thing to feel that way. It's important for people to understand that depression is not just something you can shrug, it's not just laziness, or any other hurtful stereotype you can come up with, unfortunately, even if my point does get across to you, you still won't truly know what it's like, unless you yourself suffer from it.
In my opinion, people who battle depression, are the strongest type of person especially those who can find a way out.
There is a reason people say "they're suffering from depression."
